Career Advancement Program Terms and Conditions
2026–2027 intake · Effective October 5, 2026
These terms describe participation in Landscape Ontario’s GROW Career Advancement Program (CAP), including employer nominations, employee self-nominations, the waitlist and individual training plans. They explain how applications are reviewed, how training is authorized and how program information is used.
1 Applications and the waitlist
A business may nominate up to three employees for this intake. An employer or supervisor must not nominate themselves through the employer nomination form. Employees applying through the self-nomination route must obtain the employer or supervisor confirmation requested by the program.
Joining the waitlist, submitting a nomination or receiving a Skills Development Form (SDF) invitation does not confirm eligibility, a training place or funding. LO will review the required information and communicate the next steps. A waitlisted learner will be contacted when invited to proceed; joining the waitlist does not reserve funding.
2 Employer and supervisor responsibilities
The person submitting a nomination must be authorized to act for the business, provide accurate information and ensure that nominated employees know their information is being provided to LO. Each learner must complete their own required participant forms and consents.
The business must provide landscape or horticulture services in Ontario, be registered and licensed to operate in Ontario as applicable, comply with relevant legislation and hold the workplace safety and liability coverage required by CAP. Employers must provide the workplace support described in the nomination form, including reasonable flexibility for approved training, mentoring and feedback.
3 Participant responsibilities and approval
Participants must provide accurate information, complete the required SDF and consents, and respond to requests needed to assess eligibility. Receipt of an SDF or an acknowledgement email is not final approval. LO will advise participants when they may proceed to training planning and registration.
Participants must promptly tell LO about changes to their employer, contact information or circumstances that may affect eligibility or approved training. Participants and employers must follow the approval and registration instructions issued for each course. Submitting a training plan does not by itself authorize a booking or payment.
4 Training funding and registration
The funding maximum is $1,500 per approved participant for the program year, across all approved courses and providers combined. Funding is subject to eligibility, available program funds, course availability and LO authorization. LO will confirm the amount and costs covered before training is booked. The funding maximum is not a cash entitlement.
For approved training, LO intends to arrange payment directly with LO or participating training providers. Do not pay for training in expectation of reimbursement unless LO has first confirmed a reimbursement exception in writing. Courses outside the available program catalogue require LO review before a funding commitment is made.
5 Participation and changes to training
Participants must follow the registration instructions provided, attend approved training and meet the provider’s participation and completion requirements. Tell LO and the provider promptly if you cannot attend or need to change a booking. Ask LO before changing a funded course or substituting another learner. Any cancellation conditions or participant costs must be communicated before registration.
Where a submitted plan cannot be edited through the form, contact LO for help. Training remains subject to availability and the applicable program deadlines, which LO will confirm before authorizing registration.
6 Collection and use of information
LO collects and stores information supplied through CAP nominations, applications, the SDF, training plans, registration and follow-up activities. This may include contact and employment information, eligibility details, training interests, approved courses, completion information and employment or career outcomes.
LO uses this information to assess eligibility, administer applications and training, communicate with participants and employers, arrange authorized payment, monitor outcomes, meet program reporting requirements and improve services. The SDF contains a separate notice of collection and consent requirements; these terms do not replace those notices or consents.
7 Sharing and protecting information
LO may share the information needed for these purposes with authorized program staff and service providers supporting program administration; training providers arranging and delivering approved training; and the program funder or its authorized representatives for required reporting, evaluation or audit, as described in the applicable collection notices and consents.
Employers and supervisors may receive nomination decisions and relevant training-plan, registration and completion information needed to support participation. Employer involvement does not provide general access to a learner’s SDF responses. Sensitive identity and demographic information must be handled under the applicable collection notice and consent, rather than treated as part of a routine employer update.
For information about LO’s privacy practices and requesting access to personal information, see the Landscape Ontario Privacy Policy. Privacy questions may be directed to privacy@landscapeontario.com. Contact the CAP support team to request a correction to program information or discuss a concern about program consent. LO will explain any effect on participation and any records it must retain.
8 Program contact and follow up
LO will use the contact details provided to communicate about nominations, eligibility, forms, training, completion and program outcomes. LO may follow up for up to one year after training, including employment and career advancement follow-up. Any separate funder contact will be explained through the applicable notices. Agreement to these terms does not itself subscribe a person to unrelated promotional communications.
