what it is
An entry-level training initiative designed to prepare candidates for immediate employment in Ontario's landscape sector.
what you get
Eligible participants get free, hands-on training from industry professionals, including First Aid, WHMIS and Greenius courses and a GROW Program Completion Certificate. They also get connections to employers in Landscape Ontario's network and career support after graduation.
Who it's for
Job seekers who are new to landscaping or horticulture.
time commitment
Three weeks full-time.
what it is
A free way to hire graduates of GROW, Landscape Ontario's new-entrant training program. The GROW team connects you with trained candidates who fit your roles.
what you get
Employers get free access to work-ready GROW graduates who have practical, industry-focused training and safety training. The GROW team helps match them to your hiring needs, and you may qualify for a job placement subsidy.
Who it's for
Landscape and horticulture employers hiring entry-level staff.
time commitment
A short form and a follow-up call with a GROW coordinator, then your usual hiring process.
what it is
The Horticultural Technician 441C Apprenticeship combines paid on-the-job learning with in-school training and provides a pathway toward a Certificate of Apprenticeship and the Red Seal examination.
Who it's for
Prospective apprentices generally need an Ontario employer sponsor and must meet provincial registration requirements.
time commitment
Apprenticeship is a form of post secondary education that can take between 3-5 years to complete.
what it is
The Horticultural Technician 441C Apprenticeship combines paid on-the-job learning with in-school training and provides a pathway toward a Certificate of Apprenticeship and the Red Seal examination.
Who it's for
Prospective apprentices generally need an Ontario employer sponsor and must meet provincial registration requirements.
time commitment

Leadership and technical specialization courses to step into foreman or supervisor roles.
what you get
If your employer nominates you, you can get up to $1,500 in approved leadership or technical training, paid directly by Landscape Ontario.
Who it's for
Current employees nominated by their employer. Employees can't apply on their own — your employer submits the nomination.
time commitment
Flexible; set by the training plan, with all training complete by May 31, 2027.
what it is
Leadership and technical specialization courses to step into foreman or supervisor roles.
what you get
You can nominate up to three eligible staff and get up to $1,500 in approved training per learner, paid directly by Landscape Ontario.
Who it's for
Employers and managers who want to nominate their current employees.
time commitment
Flexible; set by the training plan, with all training complete by May 31, 2027. The program requires a detailed application.
what it is
Business development audit and HR advancement program to benchmark your workplace standards.
what you get
You get practical hiring and retention tools to use right away, along with guidance from a facilitator who knows the landscape sector and peer learning with other owners and managers.
Who it's for
Ontario landscape contractors with a valid business registration.
what it is
Landscape Ontario's job board for finding landscaping jobs. Free for everyone.
what you get
Job seekers can browse and apply to landscaping and horticulture jobs for free.
Who it's for
Job seekers in landscaping.
time commitment
Self-paced. Browse any time.

Employers can post openings to reach candidates already looking for work in the industry.

Step 4. Check if you're eligible before you apply

Check if Training for New Entrants is right for you

Answering honestly now saves you time later. We confirm all of this before any funding is approved.
Are you a resident of Ontario?
Are you legally entitled to work in Canada?
Are you at least 18 years old?
If accepted, would this be your only full-time funded program?
Are you available for the full program duration?

Based on your answers, you look eligible.

Applications for upcoming sessions are expected to open in late fall. Join the interest list to receive confirmed dates, locations and application details.

Training for New Entrants isn't a fit right now.

Check if Apprenticeship is right for you

Answering honestly now saves you time later. We confirm all of this before you're approved.
Are you a resident of Ontario?
Are you legally entitled to work in Canada?
Are you interested in pursuing the horticultural technician trade?
Do you understand that apprenticeship includes both on-the-job and classroom training?
Are you able to work with an employer/sponsor as part of  the apprenticeship pathway?

Based on your answers, Apprenticeship could be a good fit.

The team will confirm this before anything is approved.

Apprenticeship may not be the right next step yet.
