2. Celebrating the Year of the Garden 2022

Year of the Garden 2022 started on the first day of spring and continues on! A celebration of everything garden and gardening related in Canada, this initiative aims to inspire and inform Canadians about the many health and well-being, economic, and environmental benefits gardens and gardening provide, and along the way provide tips and tricks for gardening success and the enjoyment of gardens. The Year of the Garden 2022 offers many opportunities to “Live the Garden Life” and get involved, enjoy garden experiences, and get inspired in the garden.

Get Involved, Experience Gardens & Be Inspired

VOLUNTEER TO CREATE A GREEN STREET (POP-UP PARK)
IN DOWNTOWN TORONTO!

The Toronto Green Street is part of the larger Open Streets TO festival and is taking place on Sunday August 21st. This is a fun opportunity to help build a pop up park downtown Toronto for hundreds to thousands of people to enjoy!

We will be meeting on Yonge Street just north of Dundas Square at 8:15AM. We will be rolling out and rolling up sod donated by Fairgreen Sod Farms, so please wear closed toed shoes. We will have t-shirts for all volunteers and will be providing lunch at 12:00PM.

You are welcome to volunteer for the whole day (8:15AM-3:00PM) or commit to either the morning (8:15AM-10:00AM) or afternoon (1:45PM-3:00PM) shifts.

If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to Sarah at srafols@landscapeontario.com by 4PM ON THURSDAY, AUG. 18TH. Include your t-shirt size, any dietary restrictions, and any questions you may have!
