Getting Started

Congratulations on being accepted to Landscape Ontario’s GROW Training for New Workers!

Please read the following training information carefully, then follow the links at the bottom of the page to complete your official program registration.

Once you’ve completed your registration, you’ll gain access to your online GROW Participant Portal, where you can start your training.

What to Expect:

GROW is a government-funded employment program designed to help you launch a career in landscape and horticulture as soon as possible. During your training, you’ll learn in-demand skills from industry professionals and gain valuable hands-on experience.

Throughout your training, we’ll help you add your new skills and experience to your Professional Profile. Your profile allows industry employers to contact you directly about jobs in your area through Landscape Ontario’s official job board, Landscape.jobs.

GROW is here to help every step of the way, from your job search to your first day and beyond! After you complete your training your GROW Alumni Portal connects you to even more resources and opportunities.

About your Training:

Your GROW training is divided into three steps to help you maximize your time and access the tools and support you need to succeed.

  • Step 1: Self-Study Training:

    • Learn at your own pace with online training from GROW and our training partners.

    • Create your Professional Profile and learn more about the jobs available in your area.

    • Explore your career options in a One-on-one Discovery Session with a GROW Career Specialist.

  • Step 2: Live Online Training

    • After completing Step 1, you’ll be added to one of our GROW virtual classrooms for a series of live, interactive webinars hosted by your instructors.

    • At this stage, you’ll also begin work to earn your First Aid, CPR and WHMIS certifications, which are included in your GROW training at no cost.

  • Step 3: On-site Training

    • GROW offers on-site training from locations throughout the province. During your online training, we’ll contact you to confirm your spot at a location near you.

    • Working in small groups, you’re instructors will teach you professional techniques in real-world conditions. You’ll also learn how to use and care for common industry tools and equipment.

Program Registration

As a government-funded employment program, all GROW participants are required to complete the following online forms.

  • Skills Development Fund - Participant Registration

    • Information about you and your job experience before starting the program.

  • Participant Consents

    • Provides details on your privacy policy and collects your consent to be contacted about your training.

  • Participant Handbook Agreement

    • Confirms your understanding of the most important information from your Participant Handbook. (Additional information included below)

  • Pre-Program Knowledge Assessment

    • Series of short questions to be completed before and after your training. Used to measure the effectiveness of our training curriculum.

Complete your Program Registration Forms

  • After you submit each form, the next form will load automatically.

  • You can pause at any time by clicking SAVE at the bottom of the form page. You’ll receive an email with a link to continue later.

  • After you submit your last form, Pre-Program Knowledge Assessment, you'll automatically be taken to your online portal sign-up page. Follow the on-screen instructions, create your account and gain immediate access to your GROW Participant Portal.

    (We’ll also send you an email with a link and instructions that you can access later.)

  • Important: Please do not complete more than one submission for each of the registration forms. To update your information please contact Victoria at vcowan@landscapeontario.com.

Start your Self-Study Training.

Once inside your Participant Portal, follow the on-screen instructions to begin your Self-Study Training.

In the meantime, we’ll sign you up for additional online training through our partner Greenius! Look for an email with instructions to access your Greenius training.

Remember: All forms must be submitted before you can access your online learning through the GROW Participant Portal. If you run into problems completing your forms or have any questions, we’re here to help: grow@landscapeontario.com.
