Building off our first event in May 2022, Learn Your Rights is continuing to advocate and support Black workers through another Black worker's rights information clinic. This clinic is focused on the realities of Black workers & providing resources specific to these experiences!
The Public Service Alliance of Canada has partnered with the Scarborough Hub to create a space of learning, support and networking. There will be community organizations available to provide resources, answer questions and chat!
Black workers are at the core of the most essential parts of the economy but anti-Black racism continues to be a factor in our realities as workers. Learning our rights helps prepare us for the realities we face as Black workers (ie. injury, illness, being laid off, workplace discrimination). Having access to resources created for Black workers helps to combat the barriers put in place by historical and systemic racism & discrimination.
With increased access to information and resources about our rights, we can advocate for ourselves and others in our community, while learning to mobilize our workplaces.
Learn Your Rights! Will combat some of these challenges through:
Access to education on workers’ rights
Access to relevant community organizations
Creation of a digital community hub that focuses specifically on Black workers
Access to Union experts & advice
Information on unionizing and organizing
Youth leadership opportunities
Join the Hub with your family, friends & neighbours (the more the better) on February 18th & enjoy complimentary food, beverages & music! Let's work together to improve the rights & realities of Black Workers!
